David Rees (PhD).

BA, MA (Hons), PhD

As a Founding Partner of Synergia, and a Director from 1999-2009, David has worked across the public and private sectors both locally and overseas. He is based in our Auckland office.

During the 1970s and early 1980s David’s focus was on counselling individuals, groups and families which gave him great insight into individual and group dynamics. In the 1980s David brought these insights to the organisational setting by helping individuals and groups improve their understanding of, and ability to change the systems within which they live and work.

David places a great deal of emphasis on bringing together best evidence and broad engagement within a systems framework. He combines his extensive facilitation skills with a range of systems methods to help individuals and groups improve their understanding of, and change, the complex worlds within which they live and work.

Working with public and private sector clients and universities, David utilises qualitative and quantitative systems methods to guide his consulting and research work in the areas of health, social care and community development. Over the last few years David has been working to better understand the links between a systems view of the world and mātauranga Māori.

David is also a Research Fellow at the School of Population Health, University of Auckland.
